ABOUT US
Doctor Pokorny began working in the medical field as an orderly in the emergency room at the age of 18. He continued working in the hospital throughout his years in medical school at North Eastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown Ohio. He graduated from medical school as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha, the honor society for medical students. After medical school, he went on to general and plastic surgery training at St. Louis University Hospital. Following his plastic surgery training, he did a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. He also enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves and currently serves at the rank of Major.
After training Dr. Pokorny worked at the Guthrie Clinic in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He served as section chief of plastic surgery for three years at the Guthrie Clinic before moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he worked at Leber and Banducci Plastic Surgery. Doctor Pokorny moved to North Carolina in August of 2009 and established Carolina Coastal Plastic Surgery.
Nurse Practitioner- Skin Care Consultant and Nurse Injector
In her roll as Nurse Practitioner, Jennifer works in collaboration with Primary Physician to assess and implement interventions as needed for specialized patient populations.
Provide medical grade skin care and aesthetic services including botox, dermal fillers, microneedling, chemical peels, kybella, sculptra and dermaplanning.
Jennifer began her medical career as a Registered Nurse after obtaining her diploma from Sentara School of Nursing in 2009. She began her career working on a medical/surgical unit and transitioned to the Emergency Department shortly after. While working in the ED she obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Old Dominion University in 2011. Jennifer continued her career as a travel nurse working in various Emergency Departments and Intensive Care Units along the East Coast and Virgin Islands obtaining many certifications including her Certified Emergency Nursing and Trauma Nursing Certifications. She came to the Outer Banks in 2016 and graduated from Frontier Nursing University in 2021 as a Nurse Practitioner with her Masters of Science in Nursing. Jennifer has always loved the field of plastic surgery and medical aesthetics and is excited to work in collaboration with Dr. Pokorny to provide these services to the Outer Banks and Elizabeth City.
When she is not working you can find her spending time with her husband and french bulldog on the beach or boat.
